This tutorial will help you install Clementine Audio Player on your Ubuntu computer. Clementine is a modified version of the legendary player KDE Amarok, written in Qt technology and loaded with modern features. We use Ubuntu 24.04 as an example here and you can practice this with any other Ubuntu version. Now let's begin installing and playing some audio!

How To Install Clementine

 

1. Run App Center. 

2. Search for clementine.

3. Select "Debian package" from the selector.

4. Alternatively, select "Snap package" from the selector if you want it from Snap. Ignore this if you do not have idea about it yet.

5. Click Install.

6. Wait for the download and installation processes take place.

7. Clementine installed. Done.

Alternative Method To Install Clementine

 

This method uses Terminal's command line and you can try this instead of regular method mentioned above:

1. Run Terminal.

2. Type the following command line then press Enter:

$ sudo apt-get install clementine 

3. Wait for the process to take place until it finished.

4. Clementine Music Player installed successfully.


How To Use Clementine

 

1. Open up Ubuntu applications menu.

2. Find Clementine. 

3. Click Clementine. 

 (Ubuntu applications menu finds Clementine -- that is an orange fruit logo)

 

4. Clementine runs. 

5. Click Music -> Open Files... -> navigate to your MP3 or OGG audio files -> select one -> play. 

6. Audio recording plays.

7. Do number 1-5 to add more audio files into Clementine. 

8. Click Save Playlist if you want to save your playlist. Done.

Clementine is a modern audio player program inspired by the older generation of Amarok Player from KDE and it is available for GNU/Linux, Windows and MacOS. Its features include fast search and easy to use to play music. It is Free Software developed using Qt and GStreamer technologies by a community of developers and licensed under GNU GPL 3 license. To Ubuntu users, Clementine is officially available on Ubuntu repositories including current LTS 24.04 and still actively maintained for the future releases.
