This tutorial will help you switch search engine from Google to Startpage.com on Ubuntu 24.04 "Noble Numbat". This is a continuation to the previous tutorial Switch to DuckDuckGo to give you more good alternatives. We pick Startpage here because in reality we live with it for many years now, thanks to recommendation from many projects from within our community and we use it even more than DuckDuckGo. We wish the best for Startpage and you. Now let's try it out!

1. Run Firefox.

2. Visit startpage.com

3. Right-click the URL https://startpage.com -> Add "Startpage Search".

4. Click triple line button -> Settings -> Search.

5. Under Default Search Engine, select Startpage.

6. Done.

Now write anything in the address bar or new tab's search and press Enter and you will get search results from Startpage. Happy searching!

7. To revert back to default, repeat 1-5 and select another choice.

Notes

This tutorial is based on Firefox. Thus, fortunately this is also applicable to any web browser modified from Firefox including Trisquel Abrowser, GNU Icecat and LibreWolf  etc.
