Preparations Before Installation
- Download Trisquel.
Choose 32 bit edition for computers sold before 2011, or choose
64 bit instead if your computer either has 4GB RAM or comes with Windows
10.
- Create Trisquel bootable USB flash drive, a medium to
install the OS into your computer, by writing the ISO file into it. For
this purpose, you can use Unetbootin program on Windows and Mac, or GNOME Disk Utility which is preinstalled built-in on most GNU/Linux.
- Create a free disk space >=20GB in your hard disk drive (if you want to install into hard disk) or flash disk drive (if you want to install into flash drive). For this purpose you can use GParted Partition Editor program which is preinstalled built-in on Trisquel itself and almost all other GNU/Linux distros.
- If you plan a dualboot, make backup of your important data from Windows partitions to external storage correctly.
- If you plan USB flash drive instead of hard disk drive installation, we recommend you to use EXT2 instead of EXT4 filesystem.
