What is it?

LibreOffice Online (also called Collabora Office) is the computer office suite program LibreOffice made web based i.e. you access it using web browser without installing anything to your computer. Speaking about the technology, it is integrated with Nextcloud on the server.

Where to try it for free?

I am lucky I got a gratis account at OperationTulip.com. Follow my previous guide to access it. If you cannot get a free account then, simply go to Nextcloud Signup and choose one among several providers that says they provide LibreOffice Online there.

Writer

Create a Writer document by clicking (+)  button > New Document > Writer online appears. On the Operation Tulip, it looks like below.

Calc

Create a Calc document by clicking (+) button > New Spreadsheet > Calc online appears.

Impress

Create an Impress document by clicking (+) button > New Presentation > Impress online appears.

Document Formats

LibreOffice Online supports document formats (choices when doing Open or Save As) as mentioned below:

  • Document: odt, doc, docx, pdf
  • Spreadsheet: ods, xls, xlsx, pdf
  • Presentation: odp, ppt, pptx, pdf

Afterwords

There are a lot of features unmentioned here such as collaborative team editing. For now, I think it should be enough for us to try and benefit from it. Finally, see you next time on the LibreOffice topic!
