Kubuntu computer users can make their Google Drive or Nextcloud accessible right from the file manager. This means quick backup and sharing. Now we will learn how to integrate Kubuntu's file manager, Dolphin, with the online storage, Nextcloud, so we can upload and download files right from our Home folders. Let's go!

Basics
- Kubuntu
your computer operating system.
- KDE
your Kubuntu's user interface.
- Dolphin
your file manager.
- Nextcloud
the online storage, a technology alternative/replacement to Google Drive.
- Operation Tulip
one among choices of Nextcloud services. It is at https://operationtulip.com.
If you have Operation Tulip account, then the configuration you will use:
- Server: cloud.operationtulip.com
- Username: your username
- Password: your username
- dolphin-nextcloud
the software package needed to do this all.
Preparations
1) Install the package dolphin-nextcloud
2) Go to start menu > Online Accounts > Add new account > select Nextcloud, and
3) Enter the configuration of your account > OK > Kubuntu and Nextcloud successfully integrated.
4) Nextcloud be a disk drive on your file manager.
Tips & Tricks Before Uploading
It is best to encrypt your files before uploading (making backup) online. To do so,
- select Compress to,
- select type ZIP,
- make your password for this folder and OK,
- save the password to KeePassXC (click here for guide) so you will not forget, and
- upload the encrypted ZIP.
Browse Files
- Make sure your internet access is on.
- Open your file manager (where you see Home).
- Click the Nextcloud storage drive.
- You browse your files.
Upload Files
Copy paste files or folders to the Nextcloud drive.
Download Files
Copy paste files or folders from the Nextcloud drive.
Miscellaneous
- To turn off (not remove) this Nextcloud-Kubuntu integration, you simply turn off the configuration at System Settings > Online Accounts.
- To remove completely this integration, after doing the turn off, you uninstall the programs installed before.
