The successful open source image editing software GIMP has gain a new update. GIMP 2.8.4 has been released, this is a stable release from GIMP 2.8 series which brings lots of bug fixes and many translation updates including new Brazilian-Portuguese translation to the Windows installer.
Here are some changes from GIMP 2.8.2 to GIMP 2.8.4:
- Move the OSX gimpdir to "~/Library/Application Support"
- Better names for the default filters in save and export
- Make tool drawing (esp. the brush outline) much more responsive
- Remember the "maximized" state across sessions
- Simplify the splash image code a lot, makes it appear immediately again
- Allow the text tool to start on an image without layers
- Various fixes for text style attribute handling
- Set unconfigured input devices to eraser if GTK+ says they are erasers
- Make language selectable in Preferences on OSX
- And more!
Install GIMP 2.8.4 on Ubuntu
Ubuntu 12.04, Ubuntu 12.10, and Ubuntu 13.04 users can install GIMP 2.8.4 easily by executing the following command:
- sudo add-apt-repository ppa:otto-kesselgulasch/gimp
- sudo apt-get update
- sudo apt-get install gimp
Or if you already have installed GIMP yet, please run the following command insted:
Wait for the installation to finish and you will have GIMP 2.8.4 installed on your Ubuntu system. Regards :)
