 (Shutter screenshot tool on Eoan Ermine works nicely)

I use Shutter since long ago as my only screenshot editing tool in UbuntuBuzz website and in other blogs. So far it's excellent, but since Ubuntu 18.10 I cannot use it anymore because no Shutter available in 18.10 onward. Not only that, Shutter in 18.04 is also broken as it could not edit picture, while previous ones could. Fortunately, thanks to LinuxUprising PPA maintainer, there is a Shutter repository available for 18.04 onward we can use for 18.10, 19.04, and 19.10 today. So let's install Shutter and work amazingly as we did usually.

On Ubuntu 19.10: Download Links | Install Guide | Review | GNOME 3.34 | Unity Desktop | WTDAI

PPA

The PPA page is located at https://launchpad.net/~linuxuprising/+archive/ubuntu/shutter. Hi LinuxUprising, you have my gratitude.

Install

Open your Terminal and run these commands one by one:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:linuxuprising/shutter
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install shutter

Use

Run Shutter from your start menu. On 19.10, it shows the blue-white Shutter logo on the top panel. With Shutter you can take screenshot of whole screen, a certain app, a region, a menu, or a tooltip; either with or without time delay.

Edit

You can annotate screenshot with the editor including cropping and censoring. To undo edited screenshot, simply press Ctrl+Z on the main window.

Let's do good screenshots once again!
