Since the beginning of 2018, precisely after we had the sophisticated Loki since 2016, we have been waited for Juno, the 5.0 version of elementary OS. Today, Wednesday, 17 October 2018, it's finally released and you can download it. This article brings the download links, torrents, checksum, and announcement info. I include short instructions on how to download for both direct and torrent ways as some users wonder how. Also, for historical purpose, I note here a summary of some links from the first announcement of Juno development from January this year up to last notice of Beta 2 last month. Anyway, happy downloading, happy using Juno, and please help seeding the torrent!

4. Checksum

To verify your downloaded ISO image file, use this command, and compare your result with below SHASUM value:

Command:
sha256sum elementaryos-5.0-stable.20181016.iso

Official value:

a8c7b8c54aeb0889bb3245356ffcd95b77e9835ffb5ac56376a3b627c3e1950f

Use Ctrl+F on your browser to find out your result matched with this or not. If it's not matched, then it's corrupted, so repair your ISO image file with torrent.

5. How To Download

I recommend you to download via magnet link (BitTorrent) as it's really quicker and resumable. I include here HTTP download for you who don't have BitTorrent client.

For normal download (HTTP, official site):
  • Go to www.elementary.io
  • Select custom price > type 0 > click Download > click the blue button, not the 'U/Magnet' button > download starts
Note: if you can donate, please type $5 or $10, or any amount you can give to elementary OS Project. That would be a generous help to continue the development.

For magnet download (torrent):
  • Open up your BitTorrent client (Transmission on most distros)
  • Copy the long magnet URL (it looks like "magnet:?xt=..."; select one from above)
  • Open a new URL > paste the magnet URL > OK > OK > download starts

Downloading Juno really fast (3MB/s) via BitTorrent

Enjoy elementary OS!
